Policy of the month

Gifts & Hospitality Policy

HG-POL-07 · v4.1 · effective 1 March 2026 · Group Compliance

What changed in v4.1: the pre-approval line moved from £150 to £100, and clause 4.5 now bars anything at all from a bidder in a live tender you have a role in.

  1. 4.1Record every offerEvery gift and hospitality offer goes in the Gifts register within five working days, accepted or declined.
  2. 4.2Over £100 needs pre-approvalA single item, or the total from one counterparty in 12 months, needs your line manager and Compliance first.
  3. 4.3No cash or vouchersGift cards, vouchers, loans and cryptoassets are never accepted.
  4. 4.4Hospitality needs the host presentTickets the host will not use are a gift, not hospitality.
  5. 4.5Nothing during a live tenderAccept nothing from a bidder in a tender you have a role in, whatever its value.
  6. 4.6Declining wellDecline courteously, in writing where you can, with the policy as the reason.
  7. 4.7Public officialsNever offer gifts or hospitality to a public official without Compliance’s written approval.
